Notes

If you want to make an entire pitcher of mimosa’s to serve at your next brunch (maybe a mother’s day brunch, hint hint) then you follow the same idea. Half the pitcher orange juice and half the pitcher sparkling wine. If you’re making a pitcher of them, raspberries look really great in it!
If your on the budget side (no judging, I’m all about that budget life), then I suggest grabbing sparkling wine. It’s significantly cheaper than champagne and tastes almost the same. When I first started making mimosa’s and ran to my local LCBO, multiply staff members recommended this tip to me.

Tips

Mimosa

This cocktail is easy to make, but here are some tips for getting the balance just right:

  • Chill both the champagne and orange juice well before mixing. This prevents dilution as the drink sits.
  • Use fresh-squeezed orange juice if possible for the best flavor. Simply Orange or other premium brands work too.
  • Choose a dry sparkling wine like Brut Champagne or Prosecco. Avoid sweeter options like Asti which don’t complement the OJ well.
  • Mix 3 parts champagne to 1 part orange juice for ideal flavor and balance. Adjust ratios to taste.
  • Add orange juice to champagne rather than vice versa to maintain effervescence.
  • Stir gently to incorporate. There’s no need to shake or blend.

FAQs

Mimosa

Here are some common questions:

What orange juice is best?

Freshly squeezed is ideal, but premium not-from-concentrate OJ also works well.

Can I make them ahead of time?

Yes, but mix it right before serving to maintain the bubbles.

What champagne is optimal?

Brut is traditional since it’s dry, but use any sparkling wine you enjoy.

How long do they last once mixed?

Mimosas are best enjoyed right after mixing. The bubbles dissipate quickly.

Friends, mimosas just take brunch up a notch. The light effervescence paired with the sweet citrus flavor makes mornings feel celebratory. My husband loves not having to mix them himself, and even my kids Zoey, Scarlette, and Dain get a kick out of the fun glasses with orange slices.

I also appreciate that they come together quickly with just two ingredients I usually have on hand. No complicated mixing or garnishing required. For my busy weekends, that simplicity is key.

The next time you host a weekend brunch, consider greeting your guests with a pitcher of mimosas. They instantly elevate the experience and make mornings feel special. Here’s to more leisurely brunches with loved ones!
