Traditional Sugar Cookies

Well hey there friends! Darian here from County Mama Cooking, coming to you with my classic homemade sugar cookie recipe. There's nothing quite like the taste of traditional sugar cookies, especially during the holidays.

Equipment

  • 2 medium-sized bowl
  • 1 parchment paper-lined (or greased) baking sheet

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1 cup White granulated sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • In a medium-sized bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
  • Once a nice creamy mixture has formed, mix in the egg, milk and vanilla extract. Continue to mix until well combined.
  • Add your dry mixture into your wet mixture and mix until well combined.
  • Roll out the cookie dough onto a floured surface.
  • Using your desired cookie cutters cut out your cookies and place onto a parchment paper-lined (or greased) baking sheet.
  • Bake in the oven at 350F for 10 minutes (baking time may vary depending on oven).
  • Once done, remove from the oven and let fully cool on a cooling rack before decorating.

Notes

I personally don’t make my own cookie icing ( I know I know I should, and maybe someday I will), instead, I purchase Cake Mate Cookie Icing from my local grocery store.
